Re: Venting about NM BLM Land!

Not trying to be a jerk, but you might try to make friends with those dump truck drivers. Chances are they they are observing what the deer are doing, based on their activity. I've learned a lot about deer movement from talking to oil field hands. They are out there everyday, and see what the deer ...

Venting about NM BLM Land!

My in-laws have about 1000 acres and an allotment of 25,000 acres more of BLM land that they run cattle on in unit 31 of NM. We drew tags and my brother in law had seen a few deer on the river and things looked promising. We head out opening morning and there are atleast 25 dump trucks(starting this...

Re: Wyoming?

I hunted about two miles north of poision lake. If you type that into google earth you will see the terrain. It was state land if I remember correctly. I only saw one other hunter for the 20mile trip and he was hunting mulies. Late season is my recommendation. Good Luck.

Re: Wyoming?

I drew a unit 30 antelope tag in WY last year 100% draw. I hunted about 35 miles south of Douglas on public land. It was hard for a Texas boy to understand the map but, once I figured where I was I had encounters with at least 10 big bucks. I saw at least 250 antelope and they weren't very spooky. M...

Re: Very Big Mule Deer from Texas

Most of the land owners didn't lease to the highest bidder but, There were a few. Most of the hunters where land owners or family. Next year might be a different story with deer that big. Somebody will throw money at these farmers to shoot a 200 inch deer.

Very Big Mule Deer from Texas

All of these big Mule Deer came from one county in Texas. The state just opened a 9 day season for the first time ever. The county borders NM and has lots of crop land. My In-laws live out there and I have seen some monsters. The free for all for anybody with an over the counter license will not be ...

Re: West Texas Mule Deer

We have a family ranch on the Pecos River. My great great grandfather homesteaded 160 sections. We don't have much of the county left but, it's enough to hunt for sure. Its pretty flat but we do have some elevation changes. The brush has really grown over the last three years with all the rain. That...

Re: West Texas Mule Deer

I had two encounters with two different bucks. One shooter and a younger deer that I got great video of. He is about a 155 or 160 inch deer but, he wasn't that much bigger than my buck from last year. I let him walk. If i can figure out how to get the video off of my VHS camcorder i will post that. ...
