Dad just got some 10x42 binos from alpen and I looked through them then looked throgh some swaros the next day and they both looked just as clear as the other. My dad got the alpens for 150 dollars and the swaros are about 1000 dollars are the swaros really better for the price?

Do us a couple of things then report back

1. Go compare them as soon as it gets light or just before dark.
2. Use both for an extended period of time. ie. 20-30min
3. Compare them after hunting season or after both have been "used"

Find a place like Cabelas that has a liberal return policy and use the binos for several days for extended periods of time. If you nearly die from the headache send them back. If not keep them. Another good test is go with someone with good glass and when he spots game you can't see send them back. If not keep them.

P.S. You probably can get an acceptable pair of 8x32's or 10x40's for under $500.00. I've got a pair of Pentax I've put through the rigors of burn for the last 8 years and paid $400.00 for them. I think my next pair if I ever break these will be Leicas.

Yes there is a HUGE diference.... Not even a comparison.

Like others have said so far the big difference will be easy on the eyes, and low light.

I actually prefer the Zeiss over the Swaro for binos, but the swaro in a spotter. It will all be personal preference on what you like. If you dont spend alot of time glassing or low light glassing i think about any bino will do the job, but you will buy new ones more often becuase they are not built as well.

Just remember you get what you pay for.

Good luck this Year,
CB
