I guess that's why those thing on the front of trucks are called deer catchers.
It ain't the size of the gun but the placement of the bullet.

Along time ago I used to work on oil drilling rigs. One of my drillers who used to drive the whole crew to work every day had a deer catcher like that on the front of his car. It worked great.
