Unit 2B Oct26-30th?

Post by BaylorRancher » Sun Sep 29, 2013 5:42 pm

Hi, first time here.

I'll be hunting on 2B late October and wanted to see if anyone had general points of interest? I'd like to get away from the lake, but I'm open to ideas. I'll be driving up from Austin, TX.

I have experience in unit 16 wilderness for elk I can trade.

Nice I got the same hunt. I was just there scouting but didn't see any deer.

I'll be flying in to Abq as I have a gun demo during that week I can't get out of. I live in Austin, Tx.

Saw another post on here about 2B from someone who seemed to have hunted the unit before. The thread should be somewhere in the Mule Deer forum. Conventional wisdom would say to hunt the closest to the border with CO that you can. I've never hunted the area but seeing as how snow in CO pushes the mule deer south out of the mountains, hunting the northwest part of 2B may be a good option. From what I read in the other thread, he was suggesting to stay away from the east side of the unit and to hunt the west side. He said there weren't as many people and there were more deer. Anyway, good luck.
