"Not a giant, but very sentimental..."

Post by bucksnbullsbroderick » Tue Sep 02, 2008 9:49 pm

Really had my hopes up for a large muley this year, but sometimes it's not the size of the animal, it is the hunt that counts.
I was able to harvest this deer in one of my Grandpa's (who passed 2 months ago) favorite areas and dedicated it to him. Not only that, I had my whole family with me and one of my great hunting buddies. It was a great memory and should be some good jerky!

Btw - 23 yard shot, 445 grain FMJ with a striker head. The buck went about 60 yards and had enough. If you look close you can see the double lung shot.

Good luck and good hunting to all.

Amen brother!! Great job, and any archery kill is an accomplishment IMO. Thanks for sharing. :thumb

CONGRATS! More often than not it's not the size of the buck that's important.....it's the hunt itself and what that hunt entails. Sounds like this hunt was pretty successful all the way around...again, CONGRATS!

Good job, and good buck. Don't be ashamed of that it's not only about the antlers, it's about the experience! After all that's really why most of us hunt. And great shot!

Nice buck man.
Congratulations on the buck and the memories. The antlers on the wall don't really mean much, it's the stories and the memories made that makes a true trophy. I'm sure if you'd looked hard enough you would have seen your proud grandpa standing there beside you. At least I like to think so.

Thanks for sharing Cody. 10sign:
