Heavy Load II - Sheds & Heads
Heavy Load II - Sheds & Heads
I had another great outing yesterday cleaning up the rest of the hill. I had to hike back to the truck after the first load, almost hoping I didn't find anything else (not really). I found a total of 10 sheds and 3 dead heads in about 8-1/2 miles of hiking. I hit the 100 mark almost 3 months quicker than last year!

Re: Heavy Load II - Sheds & Heads
Awesome, what do you think the dead heads are dying from?
Re: Heavy Load II - Sheds & Heads
I wasn't able to determine how the bulls died. All of them were pretty well decomposed or all bone and I didn't see any arrows or anything like that. I was in a fairly steep area between two popular hunting spots so they could just be wounded animals that got away or perhaps there are some big cats in there. I have never before found that many dead heads in one day. I also found a really old broken up chalky buck head that I left on the hill.

wow nice finds. I am trying to find a good elk shed spot as I have a great deer shed spot secured. Went fishing at Otter Creek over Memorial weekend and only found a decent 4 pt deer shed on the monroe of course I didn't get to do as much hiking as I wanted to. Congrats.
Re: Heavy Load II - Sheds & Heads
Here are a few more from last week and today. I took my son with me today looking to shoot some coyotes since I have seen a lot of them lately. We did our best but didn't get one response to our electronic call. Last week I got one to come in within 2 minutes but I missed the first "shot" because I forgot to chamber a round and missed the second "shot" because the safety was on and then I couldn't hit him on the run. I was trying out a new call and didn't really expect it to work. That is what I get for not being ready! Maybe next time. I did find a really cool 4 point deer shed today with lots of extras around the eye guards.

Your eyes must be 20-20!!
Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison.
