Re: new here, want to buy first muzzleloader

Love my CVA Accura. Great gun. Check out Thor bullets they are having a great no lead balistic tip made for them by barnes. It proved excellent on my bull this year.

Re: Elk Bullet

Sure FG here is the story. I packed in for the nine day season with my mule and horse. I hunt the same area every year, often with success with my bow and rifle. This was my first hunt with a ML. On the way in I passed 4 out of staters leading horses in then passed an outfitter picking up hunters fr...

Re: Elk Bullet

Thanks for the reply FG. We have chatted on your forum as well. I ended up using the 250grn with great success on a really nice 6x6. My accura likes T7 better than the blackhorn, I get a much better group.

Who out there is going to use the Thors this year? If so are you going to use the 250 or the 300 grain? :-k

Re: .50 cal smoke pole bullet

Colorado has done away with the twice diameter to length regulation this year. I think the thors will be a great bullet.

Re: elk hunting

Around here I rarely see any elk or fresh sign where the dang cows are. I have always felt that the elk move when those things enter the forest.

Very quiet in CO

Bivied out Friday night not a sound except for a giant porcupine that wanted to cuddle up with me and a rabbit climbing on my gear. I passed on two young bulls a 4 and a 5 pt on Saturday still not a sound. I know it's early but wow seamed awfully quiet.

Re: Decoy

I carry and use a decoy, works nice in the avalanch chutes in the little pines. I put two holes in the top and put a string so I can hang it quickly on a branch. I put mine up with some scent then I move between the bull and the decoy. I had good success with this last year. Good luck
