Re: Burris spotting scope

Quality, spotter, does not break the bank, do not belong in the same sentence. I looked at a lot of spotters below $500 and they all had issues. I did get a Cabelas Big Sky Spotter that was ok. When I moved to the west, I bit the bullet and bought a Zeiss spotter. WOW, there is a big difference in q...

Re: Packing it out?

Hopefully, I will be using a combo unit. I have an Eberlestock J105 to get the critter to the trailhead and a Cabelas Super Mag Hauler to get the stuff back to camp. I have hauled a lot with the Hauler, a BIG hunting buddy who went 350+ along with some minerals we put out for whitetails in the pre-s...

Re: Poly bullets

Oh yeah, I have used the original Nosler Ballistic Tip in both varmint and big game versions, Hornady V-Max (varmint), SST (deer), and the Interbond (big game). I have also used the Swift Scirocco (big game) in 300 Wby, 338/284 and 338 Win Mag. While I like the high BC of the poly tip, they do open ...

Re: Hornandy bullets

Hornady bullets are my favorite in my varmint and stadard cartridge guns. For big game in the .243 Win, .25-06 Rem, .260 Rem, .270 Win, .308 Win, and .30-06 Spfld, I like the Hornady Interlok bullets a lot. I have used them at higher velocities but they do some major damage. I like to keep them unde...

Re: Importance of camo

That also is a big debate among seasoned hunters. At one time I thought it was an asset, now, I know differently. Share what you know A.J. =D> Think of activate charcoal as a sponge. It can only hold a finite amount. Once you fill it up, its just a jacket or pants. A clothes dryer will not get hot ...

Re: Importance of camo

Another vote for camo being over rated. Unless you are a camo company, it will not do much for most big game hunting. Most of the benefit from hunting clothes, is the insulation, cut and fit, and storage that has evolved over the years. I feel as confident in military BDUs as I do in any of the comm...
