Re: Finally a better view...and score guesses????
An absolutely beautiful elk and a trophy, but I'd say more like 340 to 350. He's not real wide or long to bust out in score terms of the upper 300's. But what an awesome elk!

Re: Bear Rifle Scope Question
Yes, I also posted this on BGH. I read this interesting line from an article on choosing a rifle scope: "Large objective lenses will only transmit more useable light than smaller ones if they are set at their highest power in the dimmest conditions." It is odd, why wouldn't a larger objective transm...

Bear Rifle Scope Question
I have a .416 Remington that I will use on a grizzly and black bear hunt in Alaska in 2011. I've talked with several folks who have done this hunt. The prime hunting time is right before dark, and so a scope that can operate in low-light situations is critical. Also a scope with an illuminated retic...

Re: RIFLE RECOMMENDATION
This is a subject which everyone has a different opinion about, so there's really no "right answer." Here's my opinion: If you want to hunt only deer and antelope, I would recommend the .270WSM. Its very popular in this category for good reason, low recoil and shoots amazingly flat. If you wanted to...

Re: Best "easy draw" archery elk unit in Utah?
I meant to say, besides the waiting period, are there any units that have a decent success rate, where the average draw wait (for residents) is 4 years. I take it you are saying there are not, that the minimum draw wait on even the easier units is 5-7 years. Even still, 5-7 years is better than 12-1...

Best "easy draw" archery elk unit in Utah?
When one looks at the average wait for the prime Utah elk units, one quickly realizes that he can only hunt in one of these units a few times in his life. The general season, however, is very crowded. What I'm wondering is, are there any units for archery elk in utah that are an easier draw, but sti...
