2008 season...so far
Montana Well after an exhausting 2 evening hunts,LOL, I finally found a receptive bull. He's no monster but I am very happy with him considering the the very very limited time I had to hunt elk this year- I am leaving in 48 hours for alberta to chase elk up in Hinton for 10 days. Pretty stoked abou...

Re: Which primer for 300wsm?
I like the federal 215 mag primers for any load over 50 grains or a load density around 70%. It may not be essensial in say a .270 but still use the mag primers. I like the hotter spark to ensure a consistant ignition. For a .300 I would for sure use the mag primer.

Re: moose scouting
I'd say he is in the 36-38. He looks like a young bull and he is pretty narrow on the paddles and light on the points. I dont know anything about your unit as far as quality, ask the local biologist. He may be a shooter, but if you have time to keep looking I would. The rut will be starting in about...

Re: Opening Archery lets hear the stories
I looked over 46 bucks during the last 3 days. I pass on two good deer. The first was at 8am opening morning. He was a nice 5x5 27" wide that was about 175". Really pretty deer. I wish his g3 had forked a little lower on the g2s. We looked over 31 bucks on the opener from spikes the the 175" buck. I...

Re: Henrys Mt. success
I think he'll gross mid 190's maybe a little better, but he's going to net about 8" lower. Little bit of unevenness. Probably should have passed and looked for a better one. NOT! LOL He's awsome.

Re: Opening Archery lets hear the stories
I am heading over to my deer unit (basically once-in- a lifetime tag) for Sat opener. Ive spent 8 day this month over in the Bitteroot scouting. Ive looked over 102 bucks. Out of those ive seen 4 in the 170's, 2 for sure and maybe 3 in the 180's and I think I have a 190 class located. At least his f...

Re: Hard-horned Bucks?
Everything, whitetail and mule deer, Ive seen up to last night, Sept 4(season opens tomorrow), is still in velvet. Should start seeing some whitetails at least in hard horn in the the next couple days.

Re: Bow hunters and Grouse?
I shoot anywhere from 10-25 blue, ruff or spruce grouse per year with my bow. Out here (MT) they are not that wiley. Most shots are 30 yards or less. I use a judo tiped hunting arrow. I shoot them cause they are darn tasty. Plus it helps keep the hunting eye tuned up.

Re: My 2007 Montana Ram
It was a really fun hunt. I looked over 54 different 3/4 curl or better rams in 12 days. Over the course of the hunt I was within 30 yards of 8 different 180+ rams. I actually passed this guy up at 28 yards 2 hours into the first morning. 8 days later I got another chance. The whole story is suppose...
