Re: SD public mullies?

Both areas hold deer. Both areas you mentioned are straight up SD plains, badlands, and some river bottom. Badlands are probably more productive for a stick and string stalk. some of the area north of wall you can get access to river breaks with some cedars. That could make for good stalking country...

Re: Which bullet for mule deer

I like hearvier bullets also. The 130's would be my choice. If you intend on stretching the legs on that 270 the higher BC will yeild you a tighter envelope as you get further out there. I love the TSX.

Re: South Dakota

I hunted Butte and Harding county as a kid. We did pretty good prior to the winter of 85. I the last 4-5 years I have hunted fall river county. Killed a nice buck 2 yrs ago. Have sure noticed an increase in hunters on public. I will hunt Wyoming again this year.

Re: Tried the range again

Good ole load development. I know you didn't ask for any help, but I have to ask if you ever intend on shooting out past 800? Only reason I mention it is that when I first got started I worked up an awesome 168 load in my savage, only to find out later that past 800 I would have some troubles stayin...

Re: Remington Sendero?

I hunt with one chambered in 264. I love the h@ll out of it. I shoot 120 TSX. I have yet to kill an elk with it, hopefully next year. I have not weighed it. I am guessing over 8 pds with scope and bipod. I had Wasatch Precision recrown and bed the action before too much load development. I would rec...

Re: Herriman Utah Fire.

We had some friends that were two streets in and got pushed out of their home. They stayed at our place the night and was allowed back in the next day. I took the spotter up on the hill and viewed the flames at about midnight....It looked pretty scary.

Badlands 2800 Loaded pics

Last year was the first year running a badlands 2800 on a deer hunt. I was able to get both loins and one hind quarter inside with my gear but struggled for lash down points for the head and cape. Does anyone have any picks they would be willing to share showing a head and cape lashed to the outside...

Re: 6.5-284 long range hunter (gun scope combo?)

Man I love the 6.5-284. It has been a fierce competitor for some time on the F-Class circuit. I personally shoot a 264 for nostalgic reasons. My pa has carried one since 1963. If it not for that I would have either a 6.5-284 or 6.5 STW. The only downside to overbore calibers is the potential for thr...
