I was in your shoes 2 years ago Iam a whitetail FREAK from northern Idaho I still do not give up my idaho tag for a big doumb muley lol j/k but I started hunting oregon and I always pay an out of state fee cause its addicting man I archery hunt but it goes about the same for a rifle hunt I approuch ...

Congratulations on the move, bummer about the city. :) Out the highline trail area off the Mirror Lake Highway would be another bet for backpack hunts. Although that area like Henry's Fork has a fair amount of foot traffic you'll not be competing with autos or 4 wheelers. Could be a heck of a time ...

You'll need better nutrition than ramen noodles. I take Mountain house freeze dried meals. They'll keep you going especially if you kill an elk. Mark ugh I hate those things lol I have done 3 day outings with my 2200 for deer and fishing but ussaly I will bring noodles and easy mac and a few protie...
