I prefer DSLRs over a high zoom camera anytime. One particular brand that I like is the Nikon D700. This has 12.1 megapixels and can do continuous shooting, and it has every other feature that photography buffs would like.

I would have to say Garmin. There are various models. Oregon is by far the best but a bit costly. Much lower is the Nuvi, or you can go for the GPSMap 62S. As long as it's Garmin, you'll do fine.
