And I thought I was one of very few people who used the trusty .270. Most people I see out these days shoot what we politely refer to as "cannons". I load my .270 with 130 grain bullets for deer and elk. Some say it's too small for an elk, but all it takes is a well placed shot to the heart or lungs...

Re: gun

Sweet! What kind of rifle set-up do you got there? It kinda looks like a Remington 760 in 30-06 or 270. I think they are better guns than most people give them credit for. Yes it is a remigton but its a 270 love that gun! Personally i would rather shoot my .270 than anything out there. Mine is a Re...

Wow, that is strange. I had no idea that the plague could be transferred through cats. I guess they have to have some purpose......

That really sucks. I hate to see animals suffer like that. Back when I was in school I would skip class a lot and go for drives in my jeep to look at the deer and elk in their winter range. One day I ran across a very nice six point bull elk. He was just standing there in a clearing, not moving at a...

Utahbowhunter are those antlers really that light or is it just the picture? They look light enough to be sheds, but then I guess the deers habitat and level of activity have a lot to do with how dark the antlers get (due to rubs and such)

I found some more info on this deer on the web that may help explain. "The deer was hit and killed by a truck near Alma, WI. According to a local newspaper, biologists speculated that a diet high in proteins and minerals caused the deer to grow those long, curved hooves. We ran the photo by a couple...

My brother and my dad stopped to feed the elk in the elk farm quite a few years ago and one of the bulls actually charged the fence. Luckily my brother got his hands out of the fence ot it could have been very bad.

Story

Here's all I could find on the location and such.

"Estimate at 350. Taken above old Amoco 4 Bear Field (above Meeteetse, WY) by Randy Cragoe, Wamsutter, and his brother Rob Cragoe. Shot high lung, ran out on tree line by cliff, then dropped and dropped and dropped"

The big one

Another thing that sets that big guy apart from other deer is the base of his left antler. If you look close in the first pic you can see that the base of his antler is quite larger than normal and spreads out over his head. However the main beam does apear to be normal and it's just the base that i...
