Really great pics! Love the one with the moose in the background. Hopefully I'll run across a bull like one of those come November.

I've got a Rem 700, my dad a 721 and my brother a 710. All three are in .270 and they all do the job. The only difference I've seen in the three is my dad's. He's got the short barrel, I believe around 20-22". It does not shoot the Hornady Magnum rounds very accurately. Any other round in it shoots ...

I'll be using a Rem Mod 700 in .270 Win. My backup will be an old Win Mod 70 also in .270 Win. My timber gun will be an even older Win Mod 94 in .32 Win Special.

Backup Rifle

Just curious to know how many folks bring a backup rifle when they go hunting? When I was younger (and couldn't afford a backup), I never saw the need for a backup. I knew I would be careful and never drop my rifle. Well, two years ago, it's a good thing I brought one. I slipped on the snow and land...

Boy, do I envy you guys! Being in the military doesn't offer me the opportunity to hunt nearly as much as I would like. Being stationed in Florida my opportunities are limited. I drew a cow tag in the second choice unit in CO but that allows me to get an over-the-counter bull tag also. No deer hunti...

As far as a camera goes, the disposable cameras they make today take great pics. I don't think there is one with a timer yet, though, so not sure you will be able to take a pic with your animal. As far as the wife goes, just make sure someone has a plan of where and when you will be hunting and when...

I drew a cow tag in CO but in second choice unit. The good news is I can get an over-the-counter bull tag in this unit. Bad news is I didn't draw a buck tag. Next year should get both elk and deer in my first choice unit.

I have personally never needed to use a guide due to the fact I am very familar with the area I will be hunting. Of course, it doesn't hurt that my brother scouts the entire year for us. But getting back to your question, you really can't blame the guides. They are trying to make a living and the ma...

I have to say all the good advice you can get on your topic has already been stated. In my experiences mule deer can be found just about anywhere the habitat will support them and that they like. I've had success in the lower draw systems coming off the mountains and up high. The best advice is to s...
