Shorty, I said I would forgive your ignorance due to your age. I did give you a chance. I am not out to embarrass you but....... I'm not sure just how much you have hunted elk. It is true that the rut in most states for elk is in Sept. However, I have seen cows outnumber bulls at least 10 to 1 regua...

Best shot???
Just curious about the best shot anyone has ever made. Wish I could say mine was on an elk or deer but.... Back in high school, a buddy of mine and I were trying to figure out how to tan hide so we grabbed our .22's to get some critters. As we were walking out in the field a jack rabbit got up about...

Shorty, you need to get a grip on reality. I know you are young and there for do not have a lot of hunting experience, so I will forgive you for this post. I believe you are only posting to see how many people are responding to your posts. Or maybe just posting to get more "points" for your deer ico...

Just an update on the story as I have been reading back through some of the older posts. There was a story on this buck a little while back in one of the outdoor magazines. The original individual who bought the buck and then returned it to the family by court order turned around and bought it. He e...

Six point minimum?!? If a state ever passed something like that they would lose out on a lot of revenue! I can understand setting up a few units in a state as "trophy" units, but if that were to happen state wide there would be such a loss in revenues from both residents and non-residents. I shot a ...

Have to agree with BOHNTR 100%. Elk are much easier to close to as they will answer to and come in from a call. Muleys roam far and wide so trying to set up on one is almost impossible. Sneaking up on a bedded muley is possible, but keep in mind why that buck got to the age he is. Next time you loca...

Stories section
I finally got around to reading all the stories that have been submitted to the site and truly enjoyed the majority of them. Great tales of hunting with family and friends while in the pursuit of the buck/bull of a lifetime. However, there were a few stories that I was very surprised to see posted. ...

LittleBuck is right, in most western states you can have no scope. I really like that rule. Colorado a few years back even outlawed inline muzzleloaders because the season is for "primitive weapons". In the south you can use a scope in all the states I know of. The only reason I ever got an inline i...

Dan, I agree with Whitedog whole heartedly. You will have a heck of a time trying to find slugs. The most popular caliber by far is .50. Let me relate to you a little story on buying the best primers. I was hunting in Mississippi for whitetails. While sighting in I had maybe 1 out of 10 duds due to ...
