I like late Sept into early Oct, everything is hard horned and the colors in the mountains are spectacular... but at this point in time I take any time I can get. I'm really enjoying the middle season cow elk hunt that opened last weekend. Went up after some freezer meat and saw a big mule deer buck...

It seems the Wildlife Board is pretty high on option #2 judging from the WB Meeting minutes. If all the RAC Boards are leaning towards option #1 it will be interesting to see what type of "hybrid" they actually put into place. I don't have a problem with either plan, just do something that will help...

Tough hunt this year, I was the only one of five in my party to harvest this year. Spent four days hunting around Poison Mtn and the Henry's Fork on the North Slope and saw two dozen deer total. If you're looking for a "budget" gun you can't go wrong with the CVA Wolf or the Remington Genesis (it's what I shoot and bought it for ~$100).
