Second in Coyote contest(pics)

Post by ElkaHolic » Mon Mar 14, 2005 3:59 pm

Three coyotes killed won the contest, Weasel you have a new call coming! The contest was great! Ace hardware did a great job, I am sorry I forgot the guys name that ran the contest but what a great guy! Also they are not (At this point) holding a contest in June, but plan a yearly one and plan to hold it earlier in the year. I am going off memory so please don't blast me if I get thing mixed up. I will get confirmed detail when I get a chance to call during business hours. 62 teams of 2, 11 coyotes killed and me and my partner (RoyalBull) took second place with the biggest Coyote 32.6 Pounds.
Coyotezilla for around here, most were around 16 pounds and the next to biggest was 8 pounds lighter.
Here he his, called him in with a loud voice Cottontail Haastyl Call.

We won a Garmin etrx gps and there was acually 37 teams 74 total hunters. Only 11 Coyotes killed. We are holding a contest to give away the gps on my site for naming the next contest. First place won 2 nef .204's with burris scopes. Next year 1st will win 2 bushmasters!

Dang, I would have thought there would have been more than 11 coyotes. Better than none though. :)

Glad you got him to, he sure does have a pretty gray/white coat. Do you keep them? Tan them? Where abouts did you get him?

That is a MONSTER of a dog!! Wish I could have done better but I guess I never blew that magic dinner bell! Elkaholic, how was the check in? I had to go to the banquet, but the guys at work said it was a pretty good turn out, even some of the no-dog-killin-teams showed up. Sounded like fun, they had pictures there of some of the coyotes, wish I could have been there, but I went to the SFW banquet instead. Wish I could have called about double the amount of stands, but I guess I had my priorities elsewhere!!

On another note, have any of you heard of a calf (you know, a moo-cow's baby) in distress call??? I had a guy ask for one today and have never heard of one. If not I would agree with him, this time of year would be AWESOME to have one, especially around livestock! Anyways if you have or know of any ways of calling the cleaver calf-killers let me know, as calf fatality is up pretty high in some herds.

I think the only way to get a calf sound is on an e-caller, Look around for sounds on the net and you could always record one to tape for tape callers same thing for Cd, MP3 and so on. I have seen calf sound on the net. I have a Fox pro and it had a calf sound but never have tried it, replaced it for a piglette sound.

BTW my buddy is getting the Coyote mounted. He will be a great dog to get done!
