Here is what the email said.

When is a brown bear a black bear?
.....When he tries to eat through your 2400-volt feeder cable to a
cathodic
protection groundbed.

This happened recently near Kincaid park in Anchorage.

Don't now how true the info is but thats one bear that won't be rolling thing over looking for a tasty meal.

My brother treetop has has the same problem with critters chewing though his external battery power cable on his trail camers. Not sure what it is that attracts them to it but after awhile his power cord had more tape on it the the original insulation.

Guaranteed to work each and every time with no waste of meat but does have a tendency to make the meet tough.

Saw a program on TV where a young bear got himself stuck up a power pole. They said the "buzzing" of the electricity attracted them, because it sounds like a bee hive. Could be the same thing here. The bear I saw got a nasty shock & fell about 15 ft to the ground, but they tranq.ed him & checked him out. He was alright. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like this critter fared as well.
