Cougar $$$

Post by SomeGuy01 » Tue Nov 11, 2008 5:38 pm

I was able to harvest a cougar last winter, and it is currently at the taxidermists shop. I was just wondering what everyone thought the average price to get a cougar full body mounted was? And maybe also the average turn around time for a mount like this as well?

Never had a full body mount done, but i'd guess it would be in the $1000-$1500 range, depending on how you wanted it mounted. As far as turn around time that all depends on how busy your taxidermist is. Right after the deer and elk hunt he should be quite busy if he's any good. Good luck. Post up some pics when you get it back.

I guess I knew that I would be waiting a little longer than usuall cuz he is a pretty well known guy and is fairly busy. As far as the base goes, he is just going on a tree limb that the taxi is going to find that will fit him, so i would not think the base price would be that much. Thanks for the replies and hopufully he will be gettin started on him soon, and I will have pics to post of him hanging on the wall!

Thanks 7MM, that would be cool just to have an idea of what another taxidermist range is.

My full body mount for my bear is going to be around $2000. So im sure a lion would be alittle less than that..
He told me my bear would take a year to complete.. And my elk shoulder mount would be 10 months.
They are pretty busy this time a year tho..
I will give you his name and number if you would like.
I priced around quite a bit and looked at different taxidermist work.
Im learly to take my animals to the "cheaper" ones... Not to be rude, I know maybe they need experiance but I would sooner pay a little extra to get a professional job done..
