What do you do with the carcass when you kill one?People dont eat those things do they? I was just curious what you have to legally do with the meat in most states.

A few years back a guy in WA made some jerky out of lion meat and brought it to work. Everyone who ate some of it got sick from trichinosis. The guy who made the jerky ate enough, I guess, that he ended up dieing.

No, I didn't know the guy but it was in the news. I'll bet AGCHawk can dig up the story.

Anyways, everyone said the meat tasted very good, just wasn't cooked all the way through, hence the trichinosis.
It ain't the size of the gun but the placement of the bullet.

I dont know about your state, but in oregon it is deemed unedible, so you do what you want with it, I know of some people who have eaten it and say its pretty good, reminded them of pork.

I haven't tried it myself, but everyone I've talked to who has tried it all say it made them sick. As for the flavor nobody said it tasted bad.

Never had lion, but I've ate bobcat on a couple of occasions. Wonder it the're similar? Ben Lily the great bear and lion hunter lived on it.

Here in Idaho you do not have to pack out the Lion. In Idaho you have to pack out all meat for everything eccept for lion, yotes and wolf.

I have personally eaten a number of lions and never had any problem with it. When I kill a lion I pack out the head, cape, back straps, and hind quarters of the animal. IMO whats the point of killing the animal if your not going to eat it.

I kill lions not for food but for a larger deer and elk herd. :thumb
