lens questions

Post by muleywannabe » Wed Jul 11, 2012 12:59 pm

I just recently got into pictures. I have always been in video but never photography.

I just bought a Canon T3i. What lens would you recommend for long range pictures, can I get away with a 300MM lens for somthing out there a ways?

thanks

If you buy a straight 300 mm lens, I would recommend getting a Canon 1.4 extender. That will take you out to 420 mm, this is what I do/use. I'd like to get out even further, but I only have so much $$. :)

So, how much "zoom" does a 300mm lens provide?
Sorry, I'm about as ignorant on camera lenses as can be... but I broke my wife's point & shoot at Scout Camp this year and would love to jump into an SLR so I'm curious.
