Elk from the shooting bench

Post by NONYA » Tue Feb 13, 2007 5:56 pm

I was out in the back yard today testing some 7 mag loads when the elk made thier routine evening apperance, figured i would take a pic to share with you guys. This herd is somewhere around 230 head and hangs right behind my place on the BLM.Few good bulls in this herd but you would need a serious telephoto to see them, this pic was taken from the back porch.

THERE ARNT ANY REAL MONSTER BULLS IN THIS HERD,they are off by themselves in a hole, after i posted this pic i drove right up under them on my way to call yotes, drove within 300 yards of the lowest elk.i dont even bother picking up elk antlers unless they are real bruisers,i hang them in trees,id like to know how many i still have hanging in the woods. Here is the location of the elk,i wasnt very specific in the first post, sorry.

Shoot man! I'll make the drive out there and take all the "little" sheds from those trees that I can find! I think that'd be awesome! Whats the drive from salt lake utah :thumb

Shed hunting has turned into a contact sport around here, unless im on our property I dont even make an effort and i dont want anyone seeing me coming off a mountian with sheds,if they do there will be 25 people up there the next weekend.
