July 4th Weekend Trip (pics)

Post by BOHNTR » Wed Jul 29, 2009 7:44 pm

Took the family up to southern Utah over the long 4th of July weekend to get out of the heat and enjoy the outdoors. Hooked up with a buddy I haven't seen for a few years, Jeremy Houston, and spent a morning looking at deer on some property he has access to on the Paunsy. It was well worth it!

Here's a few photos I took that weekend. Nothing good, as I never got close enough........and was too busy drooling through my binos. lol

Here's a NICE public land 4x4 buck in a general zone area. This photo was taken July 2nd.......by the time he's finished up, he will be a great buck, IMO:

Another public land buck:

"Mr. Wide" is back for Jeremy to photograph:

Real heavy 4x4 that will be a STUD when fully grown:

A couple smaller ones on the open unit:

No.......just scouting it in case I have to hunt it next year (depending on draw results). I like to keep up with areas I used to hunt frequently to ensure they still have good bucks (Utah and Kaibab for example) in case I end up back there some year. Always have to have a back-up plan this day and age.

Hey Roy, had fun spending a little time with ya last month. I didn't draw AZ so unfortunately I won't be spending much time up there this year. Maybe next year.
Anyways here is a picture of that wide buck with a few more weeks of growth.
