Is there such a thing as a tripod for glassing that can be used as a shooting rest as well. I am making a mule deer hunt in Montana in November and would like to save weight and pace by getting one tripod that will do two things. Any suggestions?

I know that some tripods have a quick detachable top to them. You could get one and a spare top to it and make some kind of shooting rest for it. That way you could get the one tripod to do double duty.

I just bought a Nikkon tripod for about $60 that is pretty light and still tall enough that I can almost stand straight up (I'm 6'4") and it does have a quick release on it that allows you to leave the base attached to the spotting scope and pop it off. Then you could simply rest on the top of the tripod for the shot...
