Just wondering which two way radios you guys prefer.

I like the feel and look of Motorolas but it seems that the speakers don't work that well, if I put my ear bud in then it is just fine, but when you use the built in speaker then its very hard to hear. This is on there T6550 radios i just had. Are the newer versions the same or are they better.?

What do you think of the Midland radios?

J,

in our businesss... hunting, outdoors.. WEATHER... which one seems more weatherproof and tighter built
in the case body... an hour of rain and hiking and it still works.... also... anyone who uses a radio of any kind should always carry extra set of battrys for it... especially us hunters.... that might be a concern if you cant get extra ones for it.....

jsut a few thoughts....

I enjoy my Midland they work good, they aren't brand new but spread out for 14 miles clear but reach much further depending on where you are. Price tag $120

I have used my Midlands for two years now more for bird hunting out here in the east than anything back home in the mountains but they have worked great for me. We did test em out scouting in the mountain one year and they did great unless you had a very tall ridge in between us.

WHAT WAS THE SPEAKER LIKE. I FIND THAT MY MOTOROLAS ARE DECENT ON THE CLARITY IF I HAVE MY EAR PHONE IN BUT IF I AM USING THE UNITS SPEAKER THEY SUCK BIG TIME, YOU CAN NOT UNDERSTAND ANYTHING THE PERSON IS SAYING.

THE EAR PHONE IS GOOD WHILE HUNTING BUT WHEN I AM FISHING OR AT A PUBLIC PLACE WERE I DON'T NEED THE EAR PHONE IN I WANT TO JUST USE THE UNIT.

Been using Motorolas for more than a few years now and have no complaints with the speakers. Various models over the years. We have one guy who shows up every year with Midlands and we can never hear him, although he can hear us (???) I'll stay with the Motorolas.
