The Spot

Post by maintguy47 » Fri Oct 10, 2008 8:01 pm

I hunt some pretty tough places staying gone for days on end. This drives my familly crazy not knowing if I'm ok. I purched a spot whitch is basically a GPS that will send a I'm o.k. message, track you in realtime or send a 911 signal. For 8 nights striaght I sent the OK signal under clear skys above 10.000ft. One out of 8 reached home. It's a great idea if it works. Do not trust this device to work every time even under perffect conditions. If you get hurt and hit the 911 button do not wait for help, especially if your life depends on it. You'll die waiting for rescue.

Thanks for the Heads Up. This is not the first time that I have heard a report like this on "The Spot". I think a sat phone is a better option.

i have checked alot on these. even with all the good post, there are to many of these bad reports to make me want to buy it. i almost bought it 2 yrs ago when it first came out.
i do think in a year or so they should improve. it's a great idea..........
