Where I hunt there isn't much open range at all. So I really don't have much choice in the matter. :) I'd like to try the open range some time though. It looks like a blast, for now though I'll enjoy the "rough stuff" if you will.

I find a lot of the time I spend hunting is thick, but when viewed from further away, you can see pretty good. Thick pines aren't my ballgame, but I'd do whatever it takes to find and maybe take impressive bucks! I like the open range cause you can see things better, and the openness makes it pretty fun cause you can spot 'n stalk!

Yea situation for me is one sided, not much open range to hunt except ranch land, so it'd have to be alpine.

thats all I have ever hunted(rangeland) for mule deer and have done very well ,lived in wisconsin for 10 years now theres some thick cover
when hunting the high desert you do ALOT of glassing optics are the key :shock:
