Thanks for the replies everyone. Phil it was nice to meet you and your family in St. George. Always good to put a face with the name. As far as a story, well a good buddy of mine that I hunt with actually found this buck Sunday before the hunt started on the upcoming Wednesday. On a tip from PhillyB, I went to go look for a buck that he had been chasing on the archery hunt. I was able to find one good buck in that spot, and was getting prepared to start my hunt there. Meanwhile, every day my buddy was calling me telling me about this nice 5x5 and several other bucks that he was watching. So at the last minute, I decided to go hunt with him since he was seeing several nice bucks and I had only seen one.
I got up to camp the night before and we went to go look. I was able to watch this buck until dark and could tell he was nice. We would be hunting with my friend’s brothers and his dad the next morning, so we made a plan and it just worked out that the buck decided to come past me on opening morning. As I said before, just one of those lucky deals. I wish my buddy would have gotten a crack at him since he babysat the buck for 3 days leading up to the hunt, he deserved it more. But his time is coming and I will be there trying to help make it happen.

Did your buddy ever get a buck...?

Shedfreak,
No, he hasn't got one yet, but he is a dedicated hunter, so he still has the rifle hunt.

Congratulations Jason! What a beautiful deer, you deserve it. You gonna have enough wall space left by the end of the season?
