I don't see how/why you would count the eye guards. If you do that then alot of people would be shooting 4X4's

Funny, I never really gave it a lot of thought until I read this post but I count the eye guards as points when talkin' about White-tails but do not count the eye guards when it comes to Mulies. Can't say that I know why...have just done so for as long as I can remember. Never hunted on the east coast and none of my family is from there so I certainly didn't pick it up there. Hhmmm.......

Never even gave it thought til now. I guess all those eastern guys count 'em automatically, I never really even thought of countin 'em til now (not that im gonna start, just never thought that people do that - til I started thinkin and remembered about those crazy eastern folks).

IMO: Although scorable and all, their not really counted as a real point to me. Just like Bowedark, When i'm huntin here, it's a 4X4 w/ eyeguards.

Two years ago NM went to a draw system for deer for the first time. They also instituted a new "3 points on one side" rule. This includes the eye guard if you can hang a ring on it. I have lived in NM all my life and a typical muley is a 4x4, but this new rule has people counting eye guards since the NMGF is. Now a coversation about a good buck is much longer since you have to clarify.
