Opener buck

Post by Gopher » Sun Oct 23, 2011 4:50 pm

We arrived to where I wanted to hunt this morning and there were no shortage of hunters moving in on the basin. So we decided to go deep and steep and get away from the crowd. After hiking for six hours and nearly giving up, I caught this fellow sneaking through the trees sniffing on a doe. It was a window of a shot up a snow chute. It only took one well placed round at 275 yards to put him on a slide almost to my feet. I was more than pleased to take him but it was a serious packout. I quartered him out and we made it to the truck in 2-1/2 hours. He had one of the biggest bodies on a deer I have ever personally seen. He was 23-3/4" wide and was aged at 4 years at the check station.

Nice looking buck, congrats. Gotta love it when getting away from everyone else pays off.
