My First Mule Deer

I got my first mule deer in Western Kansas this past week. He isn't the biggest one I saw, but I missed a shot at that one. Oh well. I'm hooked and can't wait for next season to try again.

That's a very impressive starter buck. If you start too big with your first hunting might get discourageing real quick.

Its my first mule deer, but I've been hunting since I was a kid. I've been on two trips to Utah for mule deer and several whitetail trips that I've returned empty handed. I know how lucky I was to find this guy as my first muley.

I hate to be the one to tell you this, but that is not a muley. What you have there is actually an eastern slope whitetail. Nice buck none the less.

That is a GREAT first muley! Mine first two were does and my first buck wasn't as big as yours.
