Wasatch mtns General rifle success

Post by Scott702 » Sun Oct 19, 2014 7:02 pm

Shout out to Springville Shooter for pointing in a good direction for which area of the unit to focus my attention on! It paid off nicely with an awesome 1st buck! He is a 24" wide 4x4 with a claw like eye guard on one side! I got him opening morning at 8:30 with a 350 yard shot! Awesome hunt! I'll get some pictures up later tonight or sometime this week!

Here are the pictures! Okay so, here is me on the way up the mountain on Friday.

Then here is the sunrise while we waited for enough light to start seeing some movement.

Here is the shot. The buck was in the smaller trees just off that little ridge with the bigger pines. It was 350 yards.

The buck where we found him.

The buck after we field dressed him and dragged him to a flatter area for quartering.

The pack out.

Lastly the antlers resting on my yeti 105 cooler, I just like this pic so I threw it in.

Thanks again Springville! This was an awesome 1st deer and beat my goal which was a 20" 4x4.

Congrats on a successful hunt and a great buck! :thumb
It ain't the size of the gun but the placement of the bullet.

Scott,

Great looking buck. Care to share some pointers on where they are hiding up there? I've only been able to see moose and does. Any help would be appreciated...

Thanks in advance...

I love it too! I know what general tag I am gonna be applying for in the future! It is some awesome country even if there weren't deer! Deputyd I will shoot you a PM, but seeing as how the season is over basically I don't know if it'll be much help.
