New Mexico Unit 13

I need some help. We will be hunting unit 13 out of Datil, NM in a little over two weeks. Is there any advice anyone can give me where we can find any shooters? Anyone have any experience in the area and what has worked best for them? I appreciate any help anyone can provide!

I drew the same hunt. Are you heading down on opening day or on Halloween?

I've never hunted the area, but I did make it down there a couple weeks ago. Lots of rain and the roads in the mountains were pretty bad. I called the ranger office a week before I left and they said the heavy rains have been rough on a lot of the mountain roads. I drove 6 and as wide as the road is my F-250 was all over the place. It was muddy and had no gravel base for traction. I drove 66 and had to turn around. It gets narrow and has a lot of ditches and washouts. Be careful.

We are actually are hunting Nov 8-12th season. Yeah we heard there has been lots of rain but didn't realized it was that bad. We have a 13 hr drive so we don't really get to scout it out except for the day before, which doesn't help too much.

Any idea where you are going to be camping?
