Deer pics

Post by 79Ford » Sat Dec 23, 2006 10:05 pm

So, I thought I'd post a few pics of some of the deer we have been seeing around the house lately. The big guy was right in the front yard last year during the rutt chasing some does around. We looked for him during hunting season this year but found one I liked a little better. have some cool video of him chasing the does as well.
Hope you enjoy.

It's actually torn. He'd run and the tip would flop around like it was ready to fall off. It's a good I.D. tag if we ever run into him again.

The big one

Post by 79Ford » Sun Dec 24, 2006 12:37 pm

Another thing that sets that big guy apart from other deer is the base of his left antler. If you look close in the first pic you can see that the base of his antler is quite larger than normal and spreads out over his head. However the main beam does apear to be normal and it's just the base that is like that. He is certainly the dominant buck (or was last year at least). There were a few decent 4 point bucks in the yard when he first came in and ran them all off. They didn't stop to fight or anything they ran off through the brush liike a lion was after them.
