too much snow for deer and elk in colorado is not good
too much snow for deer and elk in colorado is not good
according to the dow there is too much snow for the deer and elk in thier normal winter ranges . the deer and elk are moving off of the ranges into new places , there was a heard that moved from the douglas county area to as far south as the falcon/peyton area . there alot more vechlie accidents with th deer and elk on the highways and even on train tracks because they are hanging around these areas because the areas are alot more clear of the snow .
Zatarain6, I hope most of them make it through, it's been tough on them alright but hopefully this warm chinook that we are suppose to get next week will melt the snow down, so they can get to feed. Now I know where all of our elk went to...Peyton..that's quite a ways away. They can visit down there as long as they come back home.

Well I haven't seen our bucks back this year. We had 4-5 decent bucks around our place, including one that was close to 30". Looks like last winters snow did them in. We had 3-4 feet for a few months straight on our mesa and I knew it was going to be iffy. Here's couple of photos from last year that Brett cleaned up for me.
