Gas prices and hunting

Post by AJ » Sat Jul 05, 2008 11:29 am

Is the high cost of fuel affecting your hunting this year? What are you doing differently?

I bought a motorcycle for my commuting to and from work. It sure is nicer spending $16 a week vice $100 on feeding my Hemi. I will not take my truck scouting. I will be on the bike. Since my area is a few hour drive, the bike will be my mode of transportation.

Will probably affect a few of the scouting trips this year :>/ , but will never give up the fall hunting. Couldn't live without it!! (???)
Must be mentally focused at all times!!

i'm really hopeing that the one good thing is it gets rid of a ton of road hunters. i have a hr or 2 drive depending on the place im going , up to 7 hrs, but once i get there it's all on my feet.

I am skimping and cutting back on things. I plan on three trips instead of the normal 4 or 5.Image

It's killing me, my favorite area to scout is a couple of hours away.

I'm not going to change anything for the hunts, but I'll have to cut down on preseason and postseason scouting trips.

well it will affect hunting across the board from the fuel to get there to the cost of ammo, food and all your supplies for the hunt I hall a freezer trailer from Michigan to Colorado every year. its going to cost me at least a grand for gas alone this year. but there is a solution........ Inflate, inflate now and inflate here LOL.
its going to get worse if we let the Dem's run the country. They think they can push the Change button and have it tomorrow. What are we to do just drive our truck to the junk yard and buy a hybrid? its going to take 12 years to turn our fleet over at least. So now's the time to drill here and drill now! permit clean coal gasification, open the oil shale deposits for production, refine ethanol and other bio fuels
