I'm glad you're ok and appreciate that you shared your misfortune with us all so we can reflect on gun safety and re-commit. I have seen a few close calls and have so far been fortunate. Safety can't be brought up enough when it comes to firearms or driving in Utah.----shooter

Yes I was lucky..... We all need to take a little extra time in the feild and make sure to never walk with the safety off there will still be time to take it off to make the shot
Re: Accidents happen

Glad your alright also, scary stuff.
Re: Accidents happen
So glad it wasn't worse. Them .22's can do nasty things if they hit bone and start rattling around inside a body.
Reminds me of an Army major when I was in Iraq. Shot himself AFTER clearing his weapon (M9), or so he thought. He never removed the magazine and just chambered another round. As he went to reholster he ended up putting a round in his upper left thigh much in the same area as yours. The bullet hit bone, traveled down his leg and exited near his ankle.
Yep, traveled down the same path as the femural artery. He lost his leg. Tough way to go home.

It ain't the size of the gun but the placement of the bullet.

Ouch! At least you weren't hurt too bad. I've always been told that "an unloaded weapon is the most dangerous one" and I second that saying. Had an episode myself when I was younger that could have resulted in something REALLY bad b/c I though my gun was unloaded. Fortunately, the jammed shell didn't unjam before I acted like an idiot. Learned my lesson though, and confirmed the above quote.
