Grande Ronde Smallmouths!

Post by AGCHAWK » Sun May 06, 2012 4:35 pm

Well, the big ones are starting to hit more frequently! We hit the Grande Ronde the last couple of weekends and I managed to bring a few decent ones to the bank.

I even brought my little man out with me this morning. It was his first time dragging tubes on the bottom and I thought he'd do nothing but get hung up constantly or not be able to feel the bite (They are hitting light, just nibbling the tube or taking it in their mouths and sitting there.). He did AWESOME though and even caught 7 all by himself.

Here are a few pics. Again, we were using 3 inch tubes and casting along the current line. We would let the tube sit on the bottom and SLOWLY drag or jig it in. You really had to be on your game or you would miss the hit. Man, it was a blast though and we hauled on about 60 bass total over 2 days of fishing.

The smaller pic is the from last weekend, the larger pic is from this morning. (All were released. They are getting ready for the spawn and I want these big females to "git er done." I'm a catch-an -release guy anyway....I fish to have fun and would rather not create work for myself by cleaning and filleting them...LOL)

Congrats.

Brian, you're stopping at Troy!? Man, take it all the way to the Snake! I'll be there dragging in the big smallmouths when you arrive! (Heck I might even be as far up the river as Bogans)
