Now that's an eye and a half.

Congrats.

K Thanks, I'm clearly not a fish expert. Are they normally skinnier?

The state record for the Utah walleye is 15lb 9oz. and is 30'' inches long. Which would be close to the one hound hunter is holding up. I would venture to say that, that fish was not caught in Utah.

If you have soome extra time right now Lake Powell is on fire for catching walleye and both largemouth and smallmouth. All three of these fish can be caught from shore if you can find the right cover.

I had Monday & Tuesday off of work for Memorial Day. Friday night I was just sitting in my room thinking about what I was going to do with my time off & I realized it would kind of be a shame not to take advantage of the extra time off to see something cool while I'm still on the East Coast (Virginia). I started looking at potential sites nearby, then my range kept widening and widening until finally I got the bright idea to check out Niagara Falls! I left my room within an hour of thinking about doing it, haha.

When I got up there I found out that fishing was supposedly pretty good in the area. I missed the Salmon & Steelhead in the river by 2 weeks unfortunately, but bass were apparently on a feeding frenzy. Luckily I always have all my fishing gear in my car everywhere I go, but not knowing how to fish for bass (all my stuff is for trout in Utah) I got skunked. That night I decided since I was all the way up there, there's nothing else to see in the area besides Niagara (which I already saw) I might as well charter a fishing boat for a day before I head back down. He said we'd try for Walleye in the morning and Perch in the afternoon, I was down with whatever. Turned out to be a great trip as you can see! We caught a lot of 14" Walleye (minimum to keep is 15") but that big boy there is 30"!!! We were both shocked when he started surfacing and we saw how big it actually was! Then we also got a few 17"-20" Walleye for some good eating :) It was an amazing day of fishing!

Oh, and the Perch out there are freaking monsters too! I couldn't believe it! They're like the size of bass!! And taste great :p
