Snake River Smallmouths!!!

Post by AGCHAWK » Sun Jun 03, 2012 10:17 am

Well boys and girls, the bite is really hot on the Snake River right now!

I believe I landed around 50-60 Smallmouths over the weekend, with a quite a few over 3 lbs. We have been casting into the current line using rattletraps, letting it sink to the bottom, and then slowly retrieving them. Just like the smallies on the Grande Ronde a few weeks ago, they are not really HAMMERING the bait but rather just eating it and sitting. There were a number of instances where I didn't even realize that I had one on....my bait just got a little heavier and a little heavier with each slow turn of the reel. Don't let that fool ya though...once the hook was set THE FIGHT WAS ON!! These bad boys are real fighters and it was a BLAST when you hooked into a big one. Nothing like seeing a 4+ lbs Smallmouth come out of the water multiple times during a fight, that's for sure.

Below are pics of some of the biggest ones I landed this weekend. The last two pics are my two biggestest ones of the weekend. (I posted one of them on my other smallmouth thread already)
