.30-06 Browning BAR or .308 DPMS LR308??

Post by crunch14 » Mon Dec 28, 2009 2:43 am

Well I've been wanting a semi auto for hunting a while now and have narrowed my choices down to the 2 above. I'm leaning toward the LR308 because of familiarity with the M-16. Can anyone weigh in on these? Unfortunately I can only afford one.
Just remember they call it hunting not finding. It's all about the stories.

I think that familiarity is a very important component in choice of rifle. You will shoot and maintain better a rifle that is familiar to you. I personally would choose the BAR because these rifles "feel" better to me than the AR style rifles, but then again, that might not be true for you. Did you look at the Benelli auto? I've shot these and they are very nice as well. I guess the bootom line is that these rifles are so close in performance that you will just need to choose the one you want.------shooter

I have thought about the Benelli but didn't read any good reviews. I would like to check one out in person but haven't found one yet. I got laid off today so it might be a while before I get one, still gotta dream. I currently have a Rem. Model700 and want a Semmi for a back up, and I can bring rookies out hunting.

Have you fired the Benelli? what do you know about it?
