My First Elk

Post by tracker » Sun Dec 12, 2010 5:31 pm

I just turned 12, the minimum age in Colorado for Big Game, in October. I was successful and killed my first elk. We tracked it down in the snow, spotted it before it spotted us and I shot it in its bed. Rangefinder said 209 yards. We had to watch her for almost an hour to finally decide the spike looking antlers above her head were sticks and not antlers. Great time together! While My dad was taking a photo of me another elk ran right by us and my dad was able to get her. The grace of God no doubt. Our other two hunting partners killed their elk too, so we went 4 for 4.

Congrats! You only beat me by about 20 years before I got my first elk! lol
It ain't the size of the gun but the placement of the bullet.

Great Job Tracker. =D>

My first elk was a cow also and it sure was fun getting her. It just wasn't much fun getting her back to the truck.
