Uhhhh where exactly were these pictures taken? I'm looking to do a shoot myself.... But not till October. haha

I wish these Bulls were in an open unit, or heck even Utah for that matter. Unfortunately they are Roosevelt elk in Northern California or more specific Redwood national Park.

Roosevelt elk are a close cousin to the Rocky Mountain Elk which is common throughout most of the west and the most well known. Roosevelt are smaller and are found predominately in coastal areas in northern California, Oregon, and Washington. I'm not sure that there are any real physical traits that differentiate the two other than size. I have never actually seen one.

I would guess a similar example might be Mule Deer vs. Blacktail Deer.
