I had the late Dutton tag 2 years ago, it was a pain and I never filled the tag. Elk were very high, snow made access difficult.

If I was to do it again, I'd go for Southwest Desert...friend had the tag the same year as me and was able to shoot his from pretty much the truck/road. Maybe he got lucky, but he said it wasn't difficult. I've never hunted it myself, but just some thoughts.

I know that the southwest desert has a good number of nonresident tags, I just wasn't sure how the hunting was there. Thanks for the imput!

Believe it or not... it's easier for a non-resident to get a cow elk tag throughout most of the state than for us residents!

I would not put in for this tag in 2012 as Residents are only being allocated 120 tags this year, I drew the tag last year and there are plenty of elk, but it will be hard to draw this tag in 2012. But who knows you might get lucky.

Living in vegas he probably knows how to do that haha. I agree though getting a tag almost anywhere takes a lil luck

I notice I put residents are being allocated 2012 tags on the above post, the real number is 120.
