Manti elk hunt

Well, after 14 years, my dad finally drew an early LE elk tag in the Manti-Central Mountains. He is getting up there in years, so I figure this will be one of the few remaining "good" hunts he will be going on. I will be going along to help out and do what needs to be done. Surprise, surprise, we are not all that familiar with this particular unit but it is difficult when dad lives in Minnesota. If anyone has some info about this unit, a place to camp, or just a starting point, that would be greatly appreciated. I do realize that when you put in for an area, you should know something about it. Unfortunately for me, that is not always possible. Thanks.

Congrats on the tag. I spend a lot of time on that mountain and honestly there are elk on the entire unit. I wouldnt expect a giant but there are some quality bulls there. It can be a physically demanding hunt with some big deep canyons. In my opinion the north end isnt as physically demanding as the south but it isnt flat either. Someone in my family has had a manti tag every year since 2007 and we've taken some big bulls. Good luck, pm me if needed

My wife sent me a few pics of a 420 bull that was harvested in panguitch lake unit. Anyone have pics or know the hunter? He is a giant. I have an old school phone so I cant post them on here from my phone. The pic of them trying to load it in their truck says it all. Trying to get that one posted.
