Paunsaugunt ELk

Post by dispatchike » Mon Aug 04, 2014 3:51 pm

Wife just got a call that someone turned in the Premium Pauns tag SHE is next on the list. Want to take it, but have no idea where to start scouting. Any help from all of you would be greatly appreciated. I know its short notice, but it seems like a once in a lifetime chance!

Not an easy hunt, not known for Giant Bulls IMO but I could be wrong. Historically around Whitemans Bench there has been a good bull in the past. Have not been up there in a while to know if there still is. Up on top (East Fork) by Tropic Reservoir you need to search the whole canyon and main roads to figure out where they are. There is also a resident heard off the Plateau on the South end of the unit in the Skutempah area (spelling??). Best of luck. Guy by the name of @bonejunkie on Instagram knows the area well, believe he guides also. Might be worth talking to him. Jonathan Roundy is his name

Hello I am wondering how your hunt went? I drew a premium elk tag for pauntsigaunt this yr and wondering if it would be worth going or if I should surrender it. I am not looking for a record bull but don't want to shoot a 320" either. I am an experienced hunter but don't have alot of time to scout being a small buisness owner and living almost 5 hours away. If anyone knows the area I am all ears and wondering where to look first.
I would appreciate any help ,thank you
