SW Colorado Elk Questions

Post by Anonymous » Thu Feb 03, 2005 3:26 pm

I'm looking trying to get out to Colorado again this fall for an elk hunt, but looking to try somewhere new. A couple years ago I hunted Unit 55 with a muzzleloader and seen elk, just never anything legal or close enough.

This time I am kind of looking at Units 70 or 71 and was hoping someone could give me a little bit of general info, like how hard these units get hunted, and what the terrain is like (dark timber, aspen stands, foothills, cliffs, high meadows). I noticed on a map Lizard Head is a large Wilderness area, and was also wondering about that, is there alot of general public use, or is it pretty easy to get away from most other people.

Any information you guys could give me would go a long ways towards helping me.

Thanks
Travis
