My wife is from burley and I am looking for an over the counter ARCHERY elk hunt around there to go hunt while she visits family. Anyone have a recommendations?

I don't know that area very well so I can't be a lot of help. The controlled archery hunt in unit 54 also covers units 46, 47, 55, and 57. This narrows down where you could go.

My suggestion would be to get on the Idaho Fish and Game website and go to their "Idaho Hunt Planner" section. It is actually very helpful. You can look at a map of the units and get success rates for each area. They will also tell you what percentage of bulls were 6 point or better. The statistics should be very accurate because of the required harvest reports. Good luck and I hope this helps a little.

Unit 56 in the bannock zone holds some elk, I have never bow hunted elk in that area but have seen them in Oct. during rifle deer season.
