Depends on how much time I had to hunt, if I still had a few days I would go after the big guy but if I only had a weekend to hunt I would take the first opportunity I had!

what if you could only shoot 2 deer in the next three years, would you still take one of the smaller bucks? no question id hammer the big one if given the chance!

nothing to hang your head about if you shoot a 170" buck with your bow.OR/ you will never shoot a monster if your tag is always cut on a smaller buck. :-k :-k i would hunt the big one and hope that i didn't run into one of the other deer along the way, that would be to hard to let them walk.

Killer

Im with you, i hope i dont see the "lesser bucks" in range!!!!!!! I still to this day, am not sure what i will do if that happens. There is always "that chance" of running into the big guy!

but at the same time, like brett says, not a dang thing wrong with a 170 archery kill!

what to do, what to do

would you guys take the 1st buck that presented it self or would ya pass the others in hopes of getting a crack at the big boy?
Im just curious to what others would do!

i am not allowed to share my thoughts any more for fear of trying to persuade you that shooting anything less than the 190 class buck is a sin.

Try for the 190. Sounds like you have time to hunt, and don't need the meat. or you would have shot one already. If you don't get him in the end, just think about all the time you got to spend hunting.
